Privacy notice
NJDeposit (njdeposit.com) is run by Y. Kim, an individual who is not a lawyer. Contact: support@njdeposit.com — write to that address for anything in this notice, including a request to delete your entry.
The day count stores nothing
The count runs in your browser. What you type is not sent to me or anyone else until you press send on the last step, and it is gone when you close the page. This site sets no cookies.
What I collect, only if you press send
- Your first name and email address.
- The municipality where the apartment is.
- Your answers: move-out date (and lease end date if you gave it), deposit amount, what has been returned, deductions claimed, what arrived from the landlord and how, number of units, whether the owner lives in the building, and the day count when you sent it.
- Anything you type in the optional note. Please leave out your landlord's name and address, and anyone else's personal information.
- The date and time you sent it, the version of the consent text you agreed to, and the two boxes you ticked.
I do not collect your last name, phone number, home address, date of birth, documents or payment details.
Why
Two purposes only. (1) To send you one email confirming what you sent and, if it happens, one email telling you that a free review of deposit matters by a New Jersey lawyer has become available in Hudson County. (2) To count, in aggregate and without names, how many people in Hudson County have this problem — for example, “40 people in Jersey City, most of whom received nothing.” Those counts may be shown to lawyers or others considering whether to offer such reviews. Your name, email and individual answers are never part of that.
Who else handles the data
- Netlify hosts the site and receives the form when you send it (Netlify privacy).
- Airtable is where I keep the list, protected by two-factor authentication (Airtable privacy).
- Zoho Mail carries the two emails described above (Zoho privacy).
No one else. I do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for any other purpose.
Law firms
Your details go to no law firm unless you separately agree at the time. If a free review becomes available, I will email you once, naming the firm; only if you reply “yes” will I pass on your name, email and answers. The firm then runs its own conflict check and contacts you itself. I receive nothing from any firm for that introduction.
How long
Twelve months from when you sent it, or until you are introduced to a firm at your request, or until you ask me to delete it — whichever comes first. Then your entry is deleted from Netlify and Airtable.
Age
The form is for people aged 18 or over. If you believe someone under 18 has sent it, email me and I will delete the entry.
Changes
If this notice changes, the version and date at the top change and the consent text on the form is re-versioned. Material changes will not apply to existing entries without a fresh email asking for consent.
Your choices
Email support@njdeposit.com with “delete” from the address you used; I will delete your entry from both systems within five business days and confirm.
Email the same address; I will send you what I hold.
